To provide an adsorbent made of thermally decomposed material of polyimide resin which is effective for waste treatment, and moreover, of which the decomposition material can be efficiently used.

The adsorbent is made of crushed material of polyimide resin obtained by thermally decomposing the polyimide resin at 500-650°C in an atmosphere containing oxygen, generally in an atmosphere containing air. The adsorbent is exposed in an atmosphere containing an object material to be adsorbed such as ionized metallic material dissolved in a solution, organic material included in an solution and organic gas contained in a gas, thereby the object material is adsorbed.
