PURPOSE: To facilitate even anaerobic agitation by adjusting the approach angle of a hollow shaft to a water surface, sucking air from a suction port above the water surface, dipping the suction port in water in anaerobic operation and sucking water from the suction port.
CONSTITUTION: The self-sucking aerator 2 consists of a motor 21, a hollow shaft 22 to be rotated by the motor 21 and a screw 23 provided at the lower end of the shaft 22, and the screw 23 is rotated by the motor 21. A suction port 24 is positioned above the water surface, when the shaft 22 is inserted (approached) at a specified angle and aeration is carried out. When the approach angle of the shaft 22 is made larger than that in aeration and anaerobic operation is carried out, the suction port 24 is dipped in water and placed at an appropriate position at the center of the shaft. Consequently, a valve for sucking air need not be furnished to the aerator, and aerobic and anaerobic operations are selected only by adjusting the approach angle of the shaft to the water surface.
