PURPOSE: To generate high air resistance and improve responsiveness thereof, suppress generation of an excessive air force and reduce air resistance of a vehicle, in an aerodynamic brake for a rolling stock having an aerodynamic generating device to generate a brake force by receiving running air.
CONSTITUTION: An aerodynamic generating device 1 to receive running air to generate a brake force is composed of a plurality of aerodynamic plates 1a being of a cascade type wherein an angle with running air is variable. The aerodynamic generating device is composed of the aerodynamic plates in a recessed shape as seen from the upper stream side of running air. Further, the aerodynamic generating device is designed in such a way that it falls rearward when an excessive air force is generated and a drive mechanism to move the aerodynamic generating device to a protrusion position is arranged to the end surface of a rolling stock body.
