Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide an attracting agent for Mamestra brassicae, an important injurious pest against cabbage, Chinese cabbage, Japanese radish, beet, tobacco, etc., containing several substances including a new substance among the sexual hormones of the Mamestra brassicae as active ingredients.
CONSTITUTION: The attracting agent for the Mamestra brassicae contains the sexual hormone substances of the Mamestra brassicae comprising at least Z-11- hexadecenyl acetate, Z-11-hexadecenal and new Z-11-octadecenyl acetate. In particular, the setting of the attracting agent into various kinds of insect- catching traps enables to successively grasp the generation states of the Mamestra brassicae and to control the insect at a suitable time before the multiplication of the insect. When the generation number of the insect is a small, the insect can effectively be controlled by the application of a small amount of the insecticide. The ternary attracting agent comprising a combination of the Z-11-hexadecenyl acetate as the main ingredient with at least Z-11- hexadecenal and new Z-11-octadecenyl acetate is especially excellent.
