PURPOSE: To provide an agent for controlling rice blast, containing a compound such as pentafluorobenzyl alcohol, etc. as an active component, and exhibiting excellent effect to rice blast by applying to the water surface of paddy field.
CONSTITUTION: The objective composition contains the compound of formula (R is hydroxymethyl, carboxyl or aldehyde group), e.g. known pentafluorobenzyl alcohol, pentafluorobenzaldehyde, pentafluorobenzoic acid, etc. as an active component. The agent is applied in the form of ordinary agricultural chemicals such as powder, wettable powder, emulsifiable concentrate, granule, flow dust, etc., and the preferable content of the active component is 2W20% for granule, 10W80% for emulsifiable concentrate or wettable powder, and 1W10% for powder. The rate of application of the active component is 50W400g/10a are, and it can be used in combination with other agricultural chemicals, fertilizers, etc.
