PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an agent for improving the efficiency of obtaining a transgenic plant and a method for improving the efficiency of obtaining a transgenic plant.SOLUTION: According to the present invention, there is provided an agent for improving the efficiency of obtaining a transformed plant. The agent consists of a vector that comprises a gene encoding a glycine betaine biosynthetic enzyme. There is also provided a method for improving the efficiency of obtaining a transgenic plant into which a foreign gene has been introduced. The method comprises introducing a gene encoding a glycine betaine biosynthetic enzyme together with the foreign gene into a plant cell.SELECTED DRAWING: None
