Abstract:
To obtain an gent for ophthalmic diseases having excellent ocular tension lowering action by using an alkylenedioxybenzene derivative as a component.
This agent contains a compound of the formula I [X is single bond, O, CO or CHOH; Y is a group of the formula II (Z is pyridyl or phenyl), etc.; (m) is 2-5; (n) is 1-3], its salt or its hydrate as an active component. The compound of the formula I is e.g. 5-{4-[4-(2-methoxyphenyl)-1- piperazinyl]butoxy}-1,3-benzodioxol. The agent is useful for the prevention and treatment of glaucoma, ocular hypertension, etc., especially high-tension glaucoma. It can be formed in the form of oral drug, injection, eye lotion, ointment, etc., and is administered usually at a daily dose of 0.001-10mg/kg.
