Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce the subject preventing and treating agent effective for suppressing bone resorption action, having excellent safety and useful for the treatment of malignant hypercalcemia, Paget's disease of bone, osteoporosis, etc., by using a specific hederagenin compound as an active component.
CONSTITUTION: The objective preventing and treating agent contains a hederagenin compound of formula (R1 and R2 are H or glycosyl) such as hederagenin-3-arabinopyranoside as an active component. The active component is preferably administered at a daily rate of 0.3-3.0mg/kg for adult in 1-3 divided doses.
