PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an alcoholic smell-reducing agent containing silymarin and capable of reducing the smell of alcohol in exhalation after drinking alcohol, and to obtain a food or drink containing the agent.
SOLUTION: This alcoholic smell-reducing agent contains as an active ingredient silymarin which is a flavonolignan extracted from the seeds of Silybum marianum. The silymarin is processed singly or together with a saccharide such a dextrin, a protein such as gelatin, an amino acid, a polysaccharide such as cellulose, a fatty oil such as soybean oil, and one or more of other arbitrary auxiliaries into preparations. The preparations are orally administered preferably between 30 minutes prior to drinking and the end of to drinking time. The silymarin or its preparation may be added to an arbitrary food or drink to enable the intake of the silymarin simultaneously when the food or drink is taken. The food or drink includes chewing gums, candies, snacks and soft drinks. The alcoholic smell-reducing agent may be added to non-gorging agents for oral cavities, such as tooth tastes. The silymarin is preferably taken at a dose of 0.07-0.8g for each alcohol-drinking time.
