The air bag device for occupant protection is attached to a portion of a body constitutive member such as a steering wheel, an instrument panel, and the surface thereof is equipped with a cover 7 composing a portion of the body constitutive member, an air bag 3 expanded by gas pressure, and an inflator 4 generating a gas blown into the air bag 3. Then, the air bag device which protects an occupant from an impact of collision is constituted such that a pair of retainer parts 8, provided one end each of which is screwed to an opposing end edge of the cover 7 and the other end capable of engaging each other, are formed integrally with the cover 7, and both of the other ends of the retainer parts 8 are engaged while the air bag 3 and the inflator 4 are received into the inside of the cover 7, and an engagement part 10 is connected with the body constitutive member 12.
