Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To certainly protect an upper position such as an occupant's chest even if a module is housed in a lower position, by providing both a base end part to develop to above a direction orthogonal to a module longitudinal direction and a protection part to develop ahead.
SOLUTION: An air bag 6 in this device comprises a base end part 6A and a protection part 6B. When the air bag 6 develops, the base end part 6A of the air bag 6 develops toward a direction Q above a direction P orthogonal to a longitudinal direction of a module M while the protection part 6B develops ahead. Because the base end part 6A develops toward the direction Q above the direction P orthogonal to the longitudinal direction of the module M, the air bag 6 reaches to an occupant's chest and the like even if the module M is housed in a lower part of a seat back 2. Thereby, the air bag 6 can certainly protect the occupant's chest and head without impairing an occupant's comfortableness.
