Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive air bag device reducing the wrongdoing property against an adjacent occupant and not hurting a protection performance to the occupant, even when the occupant stays on a regular position.
SOLUTION: This air bag device is installed on the center of a steering wheel 11. An air bag cover 20 has a pad making part and an installation wall part 22 formed projectingly on the back surface side than its periphery edge and tear lines 23 (23b) are formed on the pad making part and an early stage break part is formed on the installation wall part respectively and at the expansion development time of the air bag, the pad making part is torn along the tear line and a front opening FO is formed and also the installation wall part is torn along the early stage break part and the side surface opening SO continuing to the front opening is formed. This early stage break part is torn early than the tear line. The early stage break part is formed so as to continue to the tear line. A hinge 27 is formed on the installation wall part and the broken piece by the tear of the early stage break part is bent easily.
