PURPOSE: To allow brake pressures within brake cylinders to be created through the shortest course while shortening threshold duration by causing electromagnetically operable shutoff valves to be switched by an electronic control unit into a passing condition during sudden braking, depending on the steepness and the duration of a brake pressure demand signal.
CONSTITUTION: This air brake device 1 has an antilock control device and an electronic control unit 42 as a component of a traction control system, and the electronic control unit 42 is connected to electromagnetic operating means for two pressure control valves 15, 16 and two electromagnetically operable shutoff valves 20, 21. When the electronic control unit 24 recognizes the trigger of sudden braking on the basis of a brake pressure demand signal from a sensor 27, the electronic control unit 24 switches the shutoff valves 20, 21, 40, 41 to a passing condition depending on the steepness of the brake pressure demand signal and its duration. Therefore, brake pressures within brake cylinders 12, 13, 33, 34 take the shortest courses while shortening threshold duration.
