An air blowing part 2 and a dust collecting block 3 for cleaning the air sucked into a housing from the air blowing part 2 are arranged in the housing 1. A display part 6 for displaying the operating state is provided at the prescribed part of the outer face of the housing 1. A sensor 8 is furnished to detect the properties of the air introduced from outside the main body. An air intake 9 of the sensor 8 is set at a place other than the face having the main-body suction port 4. Relating to this air cleaner, the air intake 9 of the sensor 8 is provided on either the left or right side when the main body is set with its suction port 4 as the front. The face of the air intake 9 is inclined to the side face to secure a clearance between it and the wall 10 so that the intake is not closed.
