Title:
AIR CLEANER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3293439
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to easily clean the dust collecting electrodes constituting dust collecting means for attracting dust of an air cleaner for electrostatically attracting ands receiving the suspended dust, such as dust and smoke, in air simply by keeping the dust collecting electrodes immersed in water at the time of cleaning the dust collecting means by applying a water soluble material on the surface of the dust collecting electrodes.
SOLUTION: The electrified dust particles 5 sucked by a fan 7 are electrified by ionizing electrodes 1 and are made electrified dust particles 6 which are adhered onto the negative dust collecting electrode plates 4 by the Coulomb force from positive electrode plates 3 which are the dust collecting means. Starch 8 which is a water-soluble material is applied on the dust collecting electrode plates 4 and, therefore, the dust deposits on this starch 8. If the dust collecting means are taken out and are kept immersed in the water for about one hour after about 2000 hours of operation, the starch 8 elutes into the water and simultaneously the collected dust elutes as well and the dust collecting electrode plates 4 are eventually washed. While the starch 8 is used as the water-soluble material, other water-soluble high polymers, etc., may be used as well. This water-soluble material is applied on the plates by spraying.
