Abstract:

To solve the problem that a conventional air cleaning apparatus can not exert catalytic activity to decompose a gas to be treated unless a catalyst temperature is higher than 200C, and not only needs a lot of energy to heat the catalyst higher than 200C, but also is not suitable for mounting into an electric appliance used for general house hold because of a considerably high temperature of the air just after passed through the apparatus.

A Co/Mn/Ag air cleaning agent 12 is obtained by the successive steps of immersing a honeycomb structure 11 for three minutes into a Co/Mn/Ag solution prepared by adding and stirring cobalt nitrate hexahydrate, manganese nitrate hexahydrate, and silver nitrate into an ion-exchange water, removing a remaining liquid, drying in air at room temperature for five minutes, and calcining at 350C for two hours. The gas to be treated is decomposed by an action of the air cleaning catalyst by passing an air containing the gas to be treated through the air cleaning agent heated at not lower than 120C with a heater 4.
