An air compressor device has a planetary gear mechanism 77 installed between a crankshaft 53 of the air compressor 45 and a drive gear 69 meshed with the output gear of an engine and comprising: a sun gear 79 mounted to a drive shaft 71; a ring gear 81 mounted to the crankshaft 53; a plurality of planetary gears 83 meshing with the sun gear 79 and the ring gear 81; and a planetary carrier 87 rotatably mounted to the drive shaft 71 and taking up the orbital motion of the planetary gear 83, and includes a planetary carrier brake 91 for releasing/fixing the planetary carrier 87. The planetary carrier brake 91 releases/fixes the planetary carrier 87 when air pressure in the reservoir tank does not reach a specified value and releases the planetary carrier 87 when the air pressure reaches the specified value.
