PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air compressor capable of keeping high anti-theft effect while reducing useless authentication processing and improving convenience in its use.SOLUTION: An air compressor of this invention is provided with a security device not enabling its operation to be carried out under a locked state, but enabling its operation to be carried out under un-locked state. This air compressor keeps recording information concerning unlocked/locked states before its function stops even if its function stops due to turned-off state of power supply and power failure. Then, when the air compressor is restarted within a prescribed time (for example, within two hours) after the device stops under unlocked state, the air compressor is automatically recovered to the unlocked state without having any authentication processing on the basis of the prescribed information. In turn, when the air compressor is restarted over the prescribed time after being stopped under unlocked state, the air compressor is started under the locked state to request a user to have authentication. In this way, determination about YES or NO of authentication based on time up to its restarting apparently enables a useless unlocking operation to be eliminated and fast starting for operation can be carried out.
