Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air compressor capable of preventing the entry of dust into the casing of an electric motor.SOLUTION: An air compressor comprises: a gear casing 4 connected between a casing of a compressor body 1 and a casing of an electric motor 2 and containing a gear mechanism 3; a load-side casing 9 and a seal cover 24 partitioning an internal space into an internal space of the gear casing 4 and an internal space of the electric motor 2; and a non-contact visco-seal 23 provided in a through-hole penetrated by a rotary shaft 5 of the electric motor 2 in the load-side casing 9. Bearings 11A and 11B pivotally supporting the rotary shaft 5 of the electric motor 2 are provided between the visco-seal 23 and the gear mechanism 3, and a rotor 6 of the electric motor 2 overhangs to an opposite side to an output shaft. The load-side casing 9 and the seal cover 24 include communication holes 26 and 27, respectively communicating a clearance (space in a groove 25) formed to be closer than the visco-seal 23 to the electric motor 2 and an outside of the air compressor without via the internal space of the casing of the electric motor 2.
