An air conditioner (10) comprises an indoor unit (11), an outdoor unit (12) that comprises an outdoor cooling fan (125), an outdoor motion sensor (121) that detects a person present in the area around the outdoor unit (12), a luminance sensor that detects the outdoor (102)luminance, and a fan control unit that controls the outdoor cooling fan (125), and is characterized in that the control unit gradually changes the rotational speed of the outdoor cooling fan (125) on the basis of the detection information from the outdoor motion sensor (121) and the luminance sensor.
