To provide an air conditioner for a vehicle, capable of rapidly raising the temperature of engine cooling water when heating the inside of a cabin using the engine cooling water at an engine start initial time when an outside air temperature is low, in a simple constitution.

In the air conditioner, a heat exchange means for water includes a first heat exchanger 26 for water to circulate the engine cooling water from a water jacket to a heater core 8a and a second heat exchanger 27 for water to circulate the engine cooling water from the heater core 8a to the water jacket. A second external heat exchanger 18 is interposed between the first and second heat exchangers 26 and 27. The second heat exchanger 27 is interposed between the second and third external heat exchangers 18 and 20.
