To execute an optimal control easily depending on the kind of refrigerant without requiring replacement of a microcomputer by controlling an outdoor unit depending on the kind of refrigerant stored in a memory means.
An indoor unit incorporates an indoor side controller (indoor side ECU) 41. The indoor side ECU 41 comprises a CPU, an I/O interface, an ROM, an RAM, and an EEPROM (nonvolatile memory). An outdoor unit 3 incorporates an outdoor side controller (outdoor side ECU) 71 comprising a CPU, an I/O interface, an ROM, an RAM, and an EEPROM (nonvolatile memory) 72 storing the kind of refrigerant. According to the arrangement, an optimal control can be executed easily depending on the kind of refrigerant without requiring replacement of a control means 71, i.e., a microcomputer.
