PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner capable of automatically setting a descent distance of a suction grille which changes according to ceiling height.SOLUTION: The air conditioner includes: a suction grille 30 in which a suction filter is mounted; and elevation means for elevating/lowering the suction grille. The air conditioner includes: imaging means 40 mounted on a lower surface of an indoor unit; command means 4 for giving a command of elevating/lowering the elevation means by an operation; installation position detection means for detecting a height position in which the indoor unit is installed from a floor surface or from an obstacle, on the basis of an image signal from the imaging means; and descent distance setting means for setting the distance in which a predetermined distance is subtracted from the distance to the floor surface detected by the installation position detection means as a descent distance of the suction grille. In a state where the suction grille is mounted on an indoor unit 1, when an operation is performed with respect to the command means so that the elevation means descends, the elevation means allows the suction grille 30 to descend by the descent distance set by the descent distance setting means.
