To provide an air conditioner capable of efficiently carrying out operation by reducing the times of maximum operation in response to quantities of dust and odor even when carrying out operation by forcibly increasing an air capacity.

If a user wants to forcibly increase the air capacity at a time t1, when the user carries out ON operation of an air capacity increase operation operating part 13, even though it is originally "minimum operation" by a present detection value from a dust sensor 12, cleaning of air is carried out by "standard operation" two air capacity levels higher than the minimum operation. During the standard operation, even though it is originally "weak operation" by a signal from the dust sensor 12, "strong operation" two air capacity levels higher is carried out. Then, even though it is originally the "standard operation" by a signal from the dust sensor 12, the "maximum operation" two air capacity levels higher is carried out.
