PURPOSE: To improve a draining of either cold water or hot water when an air conditioner is shipped, inspected for its maintenance or is not used for a long period of time by a method wherein a heat exchanger with fins having pipes and flat plate fins combined to each other is arranged in a vertical orientation or in a slant state and rotatably arranged at a horizontal position.
CONSTITUTION: A heat exchanger 2 is installed within an air conditioner 1 in its inclined state and an end part of the heat exchanger is provided with an inlet header 3 and an outlet header 4 for cold water or hot water. When the air conditioner 1 is inspected, a draining operation is carried out at a location (except a part A) where the heat exchanger 2 can be drained and then bolts 9 fixing an inlet pipe 5, an outlet pipe 6 and the heat exchanger 2 are removed to enable the heat exchanger 2 to be rotated around a fulcrum point of a rotating shaft 8. Then, the heat exchanger 2 is rotated in a horizontal state to enable either cold water or hot water remained at the location A to be discharged. Upon completion of discharging water at the location A, the heat exchanger 2 is returned back to its original state, resulting in that the draining operation for either the cold water or hot water in the heat exchanger 2 is completed.
