Title:
AIR COOLING DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2013170564
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide an air cooling device capable of suppressing breakage of an internal combustion engine and also suppressing a decrease in cooling efficiency of an intercooler.

An air cooling device 42 includes a surge tank 28 having a passage 30, an intercooler 44 capable of cooling air flowing in the passage 30, and restriction means 50. The restriction means 50 is provided upstream from the intercooler 44, and restricts a flow of the air so that when a flow rate of the air flowing in the passage 30 is small, passage sectional area of the intercooler 44 may be small. Consequently, a flow velocity of air passing through the intercooler 44 does not decrease and steam in the air is not apt to condense on fins 48, thereby suppressing breakage of an internal combustion engine 12 due to water hammering of water staying on the fins 48 on the internal combustion engine 12. Further, a decrease in cooling efficiency of the intercooler 44 due to blocking of the passage between the fins 48 caused by freezing of the water staying on the fins 48 is also suppressed.
