PURPOSE: To get a stable cooling air irrespective of a variation of a loaded state of an engine by a method wherein an auxiliary combustion device for assisting energy of exhaust gas of the engine under a low loaded condition of the engine is provided.
CONSTITUTION: When an engine load sensing means 27 detects a middle load condition and a high load condition of an engine, an auxiliary combustion device 23 is prevented form being ignited by a control means 28. Since exhaust gas of the engine has a high energy, a turbine 12 is rotated at a high number of revolution with exhaust gas discharged from the engine. When the engine is at a low load condition, a low load condition of the engine is detected by an engine load sensing means 27, resulting in that the control means 28 allows a combustion in the auxiliary combustion device 23 and the exhaust gas generated by a combustion of the engine is supplied to the turbine 12. With such an arrangement, the turbine 12 is rotated at a high speed with energies of the exhaust gas from the engine and the exhaust gas from the auxiliary combustion device and then a cooling air similar to a middle load and a high load condition of the engine can be attained through a heat exchanger 21.
