Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To balance weight and complexity with comfort in addressing needs for a quiet, relatively uniform, and generally unobtrusive air flow into a cabin for passenger comfort.SOLUTION: Aircraft, air conditioning systems 12 and air diffusers 14 that may be used to create a quiet, comfortable environment within an aircraft cabin are disclosed. An aircraft cabin air diffuser 14, which may be used in an air conditioning system 12 and/or an aircraft, may include an inlet section 20, a neck section 30 downstream of the inlet section 20, an outlet section 40 downstream of the neck section 30, and a flow controller 50 within the neck section 30. The flow controller 50 may be a passive pressure controller 70 (configured to affect an air flow through the passive pressure controller 70 in response to an air pressure differential across the passive pressure controller 70) and/or a vortex inducer 72 (configured to create a vortex of air downstream of the vortex inducer 72).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
