Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent the occurrence of turbulence of air-fuel ratio by a time lag by switching the feedback constant of air-fuel ratio control to a value according to the operating mode of an engine valve, in accordance with the detection of operating mode change of the engine valve.

CONSTITUTION: A hydraulic valve operating mode switching means 7 conducts opening and closing control of an intake valve 4 with a high speed cam by connecting respective rocker arms 43-45 by a connection switching mechanism 46 when a pressure oil is fed to an oil pressure chamber 56 through a directional control valve 65 by the operation of a solenoid valve 15, and with a low speed cam by releasing the connection of the respective rocker arms 43-45 when the pressure oil in the oil pressure chamber 56 is reduced, respectively. When the operating mode change of the intake valve 4 (and exhaust valve) is detected by a hydraulic switch 16 after switching operation of the hydraulic valve operation switching means 7 is instructed, a control means switches the feedback constant of air-fuel ratio control according to this detection. Hence, the occurrence of turbulence of air-fuel ratio by a time lag of the air-fuel control system can be prevented.
