Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a heat quantity of heating, remove a factor of causing a slow leak when welding of a bead and a lead-in wire is separated, and improve reliability by forming a positioning contraction part of an ordinary discharge lamp close to one end part of an external glass tube, forming a closed part by sealing this side end part, and heating and welding it in a condition where the inside is evacuated.
SOLUTION: An ordinary discharge lamp 3 where a barium getter 4 is applied to an unemitting part of an outside diameter is inserted inside an external glass tube 2, and is positioned and supported by a contraction part. In the external glass tube 2, an opening end part on the opposite side of a closed part 2b is connected to an exhaust head 20, and when the vicinity of the contraction part is heated and softened by a burner 21 from outside after the inside is evacuated, it is crushed by outside air pressure, and is welded by a small heat quantity of a comparatively short time. The barium getter 4 is not oxidized even in a heating condition since the inside of the external glass tube 2 is put in a vacuum condition.
