Abstract:

To dissolve problems that an air-fuel ratio can hardly be adjusted to a required air-fuel ratio by a choke system in an operating condition just after starting when an internal combustion engine is low in temperature at the time of starting, and thereby no stable running can be made.

In an internal combustion engine equipped with a variable venturi type carburetor comprising a suction chamber provided, which introduces air in such a way that the pressure of an intake system can be controlled, the temperature of the internal combustion engine is detected at the time of starting, and pressure to be applied to the suction chamber is controlled in response to the detected temperature so as to allow an air-fuel ratio to be controlled. Time elapsed from starting is measured, and when a specified temperature condition is satisfied by the detected temperature, the pressure to be applied to the suction chamber is controlled continuously for the period of time from the time when the measured elapse time arrives at a set time in such a way that the pressure of the suction chamber can be maintained at a specified value, so that the amount of intake air to be introduced to the intake system is thereby adjusted.
