PURPOSE: To enable the hitting to a position to be hit of various kinds of cast billets with a common air hammer unit.
CONSTITUTION: An inner cylinder 3 elevated and lowered with a high pressure air is inserted into an outer cylinder 2 erected at a fixed position and an elevating body 9 moving back and forth in the axial direction in a fixed range is inserted into near the lower end in the inner cylinder 3. The elevating body 9 is advanced to the advanced end part by the motive power air supplied into the inner cylinder 3, and the inner cylinder 3 is advanced downward with the high pressure air supplied into the outer cylinder 2 together with the elevating body 9 and a chisel 11. When the chisel 11 hits to a sprue W1 of the cast billet W, the chisel 11 and the elevating body 9 are pushed back and relatively retreated to the inner cylinder 3. When the elevating body 9 is retreated to the retreated end part, the hammer body 10 starts the operation of moving back and forth and the chisel 11 is repeatedly hit and the sprue W1 of the cast billet W is hit with the chisel 11.
