To incorporate an air maintenance function for reexpansion of a tire into the tire, so as to supplement normal air diffusion brought about with the passage of time, without the need for the intervention of a driver.
An air maintenance tire and connector system includes: a tire carcass; a slender integral air passageway which is housed in a flexible tire component, and which is extended between an air inlet cavity and an air outlet cavity 134 in the flexible tire component and extended along at least a partial circumferential path around the tire carcass; and a connector assembly 136 which includes a hollow body inserted into at least a first cavity among a plurality of cavities and having a central chamber, a protruding funnel-shaped housing part extended from the hollow body, and a through-channel extended to the central chamber through the funnel-shaped housing part and having a cross-sectional contour for receiving and accomodating a free end of a strip core inside.
