Abstract:

To provide an air pressure maintenance tire pumping assembly.

A groove 56 is positioned in the bending region of a tire sidewall and deformed at each segment in a rolling tire footprint. An air tube 42 positioned in the groove contacts and is engaged with groove sidewalls and resiliently squeezed and collapsed at each segment as the groove is constricted at each segment in the rolling tire. A series of projecting ridges D0, D1, D2 extend from a groove sidewall segment, and the projecting ridges operatively positioned to vary applied pressure on the air tube increase the air pressure in a passageway 43 as the air tube rolls at each segment with the tire through the tire footprint. The series of projecting ridges are constructed having a variable amplitude and/or spacing frequency in a direction of an air flow in an air passageway to increase the pressure applied to the air tube and the air pressure of the air flowing through the air passageway.
