To remove a toxic or malodorous substance such as NOx, aldehyde or the like by arranging, in an air purifying membrane to make contact with the indoor or outdoor air, a photocatalytic membrane containing TiO2 on the upstream side to air flow and a photocatalystic membrane containing TiO2 and ZnO on the downstream side.
A photocatalyst 102 consisting of TiO2 fine particles and a photocatalyst membrane 103 consisting of TiO2 fine particles and ZnO fine particles are applied to a filter 101 consisting of acrylic fiber to produce an air purifying filter. In the actual production, as the photocatalyst 102, an acrylic resin is added to a TiO2 fine particle water dispersed solution to produce a coating solution. As the photocatalyst 103, an O2 fine particle water dispersed solution is mixed with a ZnO fine particle water dispersed solution, and the same acrylic resin is added thereto to produce a coating solution. The filter 101 consisting of acrylic fiber is dipped in the coating solution followed by drying and subjected to a required treatment to produce the air purifying filter.
