To provide an air spring which has both of characteristics of a conventional air spring and a dampering element of the inside while omitting a shock absorber as a separate device in a suspension system of a vehicle.
The air spring has an upper part holding member 2, a piston 4, a sleeve 6 of an elastomer of which the first end part 10 is fixed to the upper part holding member 2 and a lower end part 64 is fixed to the piston 4, and a damping mechanism 8. The damping mechanism 8 has an upper variable capacity chamber 50, a lower variable capacity chamber 52, and a flow passage 54 communicating the two variable capacity chambers 50 and 52, and damping liquid is filled in the damping mechanism 8. While the air spring has the characteristics of the conventional air spring, the fluid damping element is built in the inside of the air spring.
