Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure strong braking force without reducing an efficiency when a main spindle is rotated in a forward direction.
SOLUTION: This air turbine spindle rotates the main spindle 41 by blasting compressed air to multiple recessed parts 43 provided on an outer periphery of the main spindle 41 from multiple turbine nozzles 44 provided to a part of a housing 48 opposing to the recessed part 43. Multiple brake nozzles 65 are provided to the main spindle 41 to face the other way of the turbine nozzle 44, and a brake air inlet 66 communicating with the brake nozzle 65 is provided in the housing 48.
