PURPOSE: To provide a simple and small air ventilation and heat exchange apparatus which can be manufactured at a relatively low cost and can be cleaned and maintained easily.

CONSTITUTION: The air ventilation and heat exchange apparatus 10 includes a duct 11 for conducting the air between an outer air source and an enclosure, a heat storing matrix 38 disposed within the duct, and a single fan 40 placed within the duct. The fan is capable of producing a substantially axial air flow through the duct 11 and movable between two positions: a first position wherein air flow is in a direction from the first end to the second end of the duct and a second position wherein air flow 15 reversed. The fan 40 is moved from the first position to the second position at a preset interval.
