To provide an airbag device in which the excessive rise of the pressure in an airbag at the beginning of the inflation is suppressed.
This airbag device comprises the airbag contained in a folded state and an inflator 29 capable of supplying an inflating gas to the airbag. The inflator 29 has a first gas supply part 36 and a second gas supply part 48 capable of supplying the inflating gas into the airbag and operably controlled by a controller. The first gas supply part 36 is so set as to be operated before the second gas supply part 48 is operated, and that the supplied amount of the inflating gas per unit time into the airbag is smaller than the supplied amount of the inflating gas per unit time supplied to the airbag by the second gas supply part when these gas supply parts are operated independently of each other.
