Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a video display based upon virtual images of the external world together with superimposed outlines of a cockpit structure to a pilot through a helmet installation display subsystem.
CONSTITUTION: This virtual image display system is provided with a main processing unit, interface and control means 100, a virtual imaging subsystem 20, a binary map 80 of the canopy structure of an aircraft cockpit, a video display subsystem 40, and means 50 for determining the attitude and position of the video display subsystem with respect to a predetermined coordinate system of the aircraft.
