Title:
AIRFLOW REGULATION OF AIRCRAFT AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2018034790
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide adaptive control for reducing an engine bleed airflow extracted into an aircraft cabin.SOLUTION: An air conditioning system for an aircraft regulates an extracted engine bleed airflow by assessing a plurality of parameters that indicate actual aircraft operating conditions, external environment and system performance capabilities, for the purpose of substantially reducing the demand for extracted engine bleed air (reduction of fuel consumption) and simultaneously satisfying the requirements of pressurization, ventilation and a thermal load. An ECS (Environmental Control System) airflow is optimized on the basis of the aircraft operating conditions and the external environment. Then, the ECS airflow is further optimized on the basis of the system performance capabilities, in which the optimization is performed by fixing the air conditioning system outlet temperature to a lower value or a higher value and then regulating the ECS airflow through a flow control valve to still satisfy the thermodynamic performance required to properly maintain the aircraft cabin environment.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
