To provide an airtight container and a lid for the airtight container which can be easily opened and closed, wherein excellent airtightness and durability are maintained and the lid cannot be easily released during its distribution process.

An airtight container of this invention comprises a container main body 10 and a synthetic resin lid. The container main body 10 has a cylindrical shape with its upper surface being opened and forms a finished part 12 which is made by winding an end corner part of the opening more than once in an outward direction. The lid opens or closes the opened upper surface of the container main body 10, forms a connecting groove 25 at the corner into which the finished part 12 of the container main body 10 is inserted along its circumference. The corner end forming the connecting groove 25 has a connecting protrusion 28 engaged with the finished part 12 of the container main body 10. This lid has a vane 30 connected to the corner end of a connecting part 24 through a cutting line 31 and with a predetermined width and a predetermined length along the circumference.
