PURPOSE: To prolong the life to the fatigue rupture of the Al alloy bearing by immersing the bearing material into a soln. which preferentiallly elutes the Sn on the surface of the Al alloy bearing layer to decrease the content of the Sn at the joint boundary to a specific ratio or below and press welding the material.
CONSTITUTION: The surface of the Al alloy bearing material 1 is subjected to a surface roughening treatment and chemical etching treatment. The material is immersed into an NaOH soln. at the 1st stage and is immersed into a soln. mixture composed of HNO3 and HF as the 2nd stage, by which the reaction with the Sn of the surface alloy is selectively effected in the surface work hardened layer and the Sn is chemically removed until the content of the Sn at the joint boundary decreases to ≤50% of the content of the Sn in the Al alloy bearing layer. An intermediate tight adhesive layer 3 consisting of Al and the bearing material piece 2 are press welded and the laminate is press welded to a backing steel plate 4, by which the bearing material 1 is produced. Since the Sn to weaken the adhesive strength is decreased, the boundary faces are tightly adhered and the life to the fatigue rupture of the bearing is prolonged.
