Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide an Al-Mg-Si alloy having superior ductility as well as superior strength.
CONSTITUTION: An Al-Mg-Si alloy contg. 0.30-1.6wt.% Mg and 0.15-1.6wt.% Si is prepd. and 0.20-6wt.% Ni is added to the alloy or 0.35-1.2wt.% Fe is further added in 1/2-3/2 ratio of Fe/Ni. A fine intermetallic compd. is formed in the matrix of the alloy, the grains of the alloy are made fine and the strength and ductility of the alloy are improved. The alloy may further contain a prescribed amt. of one or more among Cu, Zn, ZR, Cr, Mn, V, Ti and B as required.
