PURPOSE: To obtain an alarm system capable of accurate and quick correspondence by using a sound response device to inform failure information of each device of an information processing system to telephone a maintenance person in charge.

CONSTITUTION: Failure information of each frame of the information processing system is detected by an alarm detection circuit 1, where the type of device and the content are indentified. A failure display panel 2 lights a device lamp and a failure display lamp by the information, the information is fed to a sentence form/parameter selecting circuit 3, where the sentence form number corresponding to the content of failure and a variable word used in the correspondence sentence are decided and its output is fed to a sound edition circuit. The sound data corresponding to the sentence form number and the variable parameter are read from a disc and the sound message is edited in the memory. Further, the message is outputted to a telephone line 5 connected to a maintenance room 9 or the like through a sound synthesizing LSI.
