Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an improved organosilane-base hard-coating agent having higher performances and being capable of forming a coating film having excellent adhesion, high hardness and excellent scratch resistance on a transparent plastic such as a polycarbonate.
SOLUTION: The surface of a plastic such as a polycarbonate is primed with a micropherical acrylic polymer having functional groups such as hydroxyl groups, and then coated with a colorless, transparent and lowly viscous alcoholic silica sol composition obtained by mixing an alkoxysilane mixture containing a trialkoxysilane and a tetraalkoxysilane in a weight ratio of 3:1 to 15:1 with water in an amount corresponding to a weight ratio of 1/6 to 2 and hydrolytically polycondensing the alkoxysilane mixture in the presence of an acid catalyst, and the wet film is cured by drying.
