PURPOSE: To eliminate danger at the time of correcting the alignment of a tube or a rod by providing thermal detectors for detecting a faulty alignment of a tube or a rod and wagons provided with correctors on the opposite sides of the apparatus for transporting tubes and rods.
CONSTITUTION: Thermal detectors 2 for detecting a faulty alignment of a tube or a rod 4 and wagons 3 provided with correctors are provided on the opposite sides of an apparatus for transporting tubes and rods. When a tube or a rod 4 being transported by the transport apparatus 1 is not properly aligned, some of the heat sensors 2 produce a signal representing no temperature increase, and according to this signal the wagons 3 are moved to the position of the tube or rod 4 for subsequent correction of the alignment of the tube or rod with the correctors provided on the wagons 3 under remote control. Thus, no operator for monitoring for faulty alignment is needed, and also the danger at the time of correction of the alignment of a tube or a rod can be eliminated through the automation.
