To provide an alkaline detergent composition for CIP that maintains good detergency and is excellent in preventing metal corrosion even when alkali cleaning in CIP cleaning is performed at ultra-high temperatures, and a CIP cleaning method.SOLUTION: An alkaline detergent composition for CIP is characterized by containing alkali metal hydroxide as component (A), at least one selected from methylglycine diacetic acid and/or a salt thereof and glutamic acid diacetic acid and/or a salt thereof as component (B), an olefin-maleic acid copolymer or a salt thereof as component (C), and water as component (D).SELECTED DRAWING: None
