Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide alkaline earth metal silicate luminophores with improved long term stability, and a method of producing the same.SOLUTION: A luminophore improved in long term stability absorbs radiation in a first wavelength range and emits radiation in a second wavelength range different from the first wavelength range. The luminophore has a particle shape, comprises alkaline earth metal silicate represented by EASiOas a base lattice, and is doped with an activator. The particles have surfaces chemically modified such that at least portions of the surfaces are formed from a chemical compound of the general formula EAZ, (where EAZis formed from EA(PO)and the general formula EAZ(where Zis formed from anions which can be chemically combined with the EA cations and represented by one or more of the chemical formulas SO, CO, CO, SiOand SiF) and v is equal to the ion charge of the anions Z).SELECTED DRAWING: None
