Abstract:

To enhance the utilization factor of a hydrogen storage alloy and increase discharge capacity by arranging a negative electrode obtained by supporting a negative electrode material containing the hydrogen storage alloy represented by the specific formula and a conductive material in a conductive substrate, a positive electrode, a separator placed between the negative electrode and the positive electrode, and an electrolyte, and using graphite and carbon black as the conductive material.

An alkaline secondary battery has a positive electrode, a negative electrode, a separator placed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode, and an electrolyte. The negative electrode is prepared by supporting a negative electrode material containing a hydrogen storage alloy represented by ABx and a conductive material in a conductive substrate. In ABx, A shows at least one element selected from Ti and Zr, B shows at least one element selected from Ni, Mn, V, Co, Cr, Al, Fe, Cu, Mo, La, Ce, Pr, and Nd, and x shows the relation of 1.8≤x≤2.5. The conductive material is both of graphite and carbon black.
